IPSWICH - Harold Chambers, 94, a lifelong resident of Ipswich, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008 at Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of the late Doris I. (Comeau) Chambers whom he married in 1942.

Born on Jan. 6, 1914, Mr. Chambers was the son of Charles M. and Louisa Jane (Venot) Chambers.

Raised on a farm, he attended Ipswich schools. Upon graduating from high school, he attended and graduated from Salem Commercial School. He made many friends and kept in touch with classmates up until present.

He worked for many years in the accounting field at businesses including Smith Barney in Boston, Sylvania in Ipswich, John W. Goodhue Corp. in Ipswich, and Polyvinyl Chemical Company in Peabody and Wilmington. After retirement, he continued part-time work at the Mark Lindsey Boat Company of Gloucester and Boston until he was 85 years old.
