WEST NEWBURY - The Board of Health is encouraging parents who are planning to enroll their children in a local summer program to make sure the program is properly licensed. By state law, the health board is required to enforce minimum standards set for recreational camps for children.

"It has been brought to the Board of Health's attention that, in the past, some of West Newbury's summer youth groups were not licensed - but should have been - by the Board of Health," the board stated in a press release issued this week.

Families participating in summer programs out of town should check with health officials in that town to make sure the state regulations are being applied, the press released stated.

For more information, contact the Board of Health, 978-363-1100, ext. 119.
